Erwin is a community that began in 1903 along with the construction of a cotton mill. Much of Erwin’s history revolves around the mill — in fact, this former “Denim Capital of the World” holds a yearly fall festival called Denim Days, celebrating the town’s rich heritage and its ties to the mill.
